WATER & POWER: A California Heist
Film Screening & Conversation
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 9
|
Join the Farmers Guild and Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) together with Sierra Club Sonoma Group for a free screening of "Water & Power: A California Heist," an acclaimed documentary about the hijaking of California's surface and groundwater by powerful corporations and wealthy individuals.
This film, created by National Geographic, first screened at Sundance this year, and is an important investigation into the many players involved in water rights in the Central Valley and beyond. Its message is especially critical with the recent formations of Groundwater Sustainability Agencies throughout the county and the state, and as our attention is drawn to this precious resource that is now being treated as a commodity rather than a resource provided with equal access to the residents of the state. Potluck starts at 6 PM, movie at 7 PM
Sebastopol Grange 6000 Sebastopol Avenue A discussion on local water issues will follow the screening. Donations gladly accepted ($5-10 per person suggested). Do RSVP via the registration page. |
