Dear CAFF & Farmers Guild Supporters,
As CAFF celebrates its 40th anniversary, our board and staff recognize Diane Del Signore who has served as our inspiring Executive Director for the past decade. “Diane has proven time after time her profound commitment to leading a robust organization that makes a difference by enhancing resources and creating opportunities for California farmers, as well the communities in which they live and the ecosystems in which they work.", says farmer Rich Collins, CAFF's board chair. With Diane as ED, CAFF has continued to grow into a recognized innovator in the Food Systems Movement with on-the-ground programs that create new markets for farmers, promotes responsible growing practices and invigorates local food economies.
Under Diane's leadership, this fourth decade of CAFF has been exciting and fruitful, as we have marked these critical milestones:

Under Diane's leadership, this fourth decade of CAFF has been exciting and fruitful, as we have marked these critical milestones:
- Evolving our Biological Agriculture program, and our long history of working with farmers to implement environmentally-sound farm practices, into our Climate Smart Farming program in 2017
- Creating an on-the-ground food safety program, helping farmers throughout the state prepare appropriate-scale food safety plans
- Leading the CA Farm to School Network and launching the statewide, semi-annual, Farm to School Conference in 2015
- Working closely with CalCAN to successfully pass legislation that devotes resources to promote climate-friendly agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gases and sequester carbon
- In 2017 Diane led the process of merging CAFF with the Farmers Guild. And this February, CAFF will be taking the reins of the CA Small Farm Conference, 31 years running. Both of these mergers, overseen by Diane, enable us to better serve small and beginning farmers more fully, while providing bridges to established farmers.
At the end of the year, Diane will transition out of her role as Executive Director, leaving behind a solid legacy. “Diane has her finger on the pulse of California food systems," says Michelle Wyler, CAFF's Senior Program Manager, "and has been able to cultivate unique partnerships to ensure CAFF's ongoing success." Diane’s passion, her commitment to California farmers, and her dedication to CAFF, is a legacy of which we can all be proud.
As we begin the daunting task of finding a new Executive Director to fill Diane's shoes, we give thanks for her hard work and dedication over these past 10 years. Because of her, CAFF will carry on stronger than ever, fulfilling its mission and connecting with all of you who stand together to support California family farmers and improve the lives of Californians for generations to come.
Sincerely,
The CAFF Board and Staff
