Is there a workshop that you’ve been wanting to attend? A conference that’s calling your name? The Farmers Guild is here to help you get there. We’re accepting applications for our first round of scholarships through the Farmers Guild Scholarship Fund from now until October 9th.
The Scholarship Fund works to sustain sustainable agriculture by offering financial assistance to farmers and ranchers for continued education in the fields of land stewardship, animal husbandry, marketing, soil science, business planning, water conservation and other skills that promote your success as food producers.
If you’re actively farming/ranching or seeking to begin a career in farming/ranching with a demonstrated history of preparation for such a career and a member of the Farmers Guild, you can apply for up to $1,000 to help with fees and travel costs related to your chosen program. It’s our hope that by investing in our farmers’ ability to continue their education, that the impact of the investment will grow exponentially as the learning is shared with their home Guild and the larger Guild Network.
Scholarships will be awarded quarterly, so if you have an educational opportunity happening between November and January, now is the time to apply. How would you like to spend your slow season? An intersession course on bookkeeping at the local JC? Learning the latest in ecological farming at the annual Eco-Farm conference? Make sure to plan ahead for these opportunities. The next round of applications will be reviewed in February 2015.
You can find more information here, or you can email [email protected] for more info. We’re looking forward to getting all of your applications!
